MAIN is the 16

Pfizer (NYSE:PFE)

In the process, I've added $1,437.22 to DivGro's projected annual dividend income and $1,979.50 in past dividends to DivGro's total dividend tally.

MAIN is by far my longest running dividend growth investment. And, because it is a monthly dividend payer, the list of transactions is rather long. Nevertheless, it is interesting to see how a solid dividend growth stock performs over time:

The following chart shows a 6-year price history and when I bought shares. MAIN is an exceptional performer and I'm very happy with my investment, which is up about 68% (or 24% annualized).

Why MAIN?

Here are some reasons I like MAIN and why I decided to transfer the shares to DivGro:
  1. MAIN is a Dividend Challenger with a 5-year streak of dividend increases. At the current share price, the stock yields an impressive 7.48%.
  2. MAIN's dividend has grown at an annualized rate of 7% over the last 5 years.
  3. Based on MAIN's annualized Q3-15 net investment income of $2.24 per share, the stock sells for just 12.2 times forward NII.
  4. The stock is trading nearly 13% below its 52-week high of $33.15.
  5. MAIN has been paying special supplemental dividends twice a year for several years now.

  1. REITs have moved up high recently due to talk of the fed will hold interest rate low longer. It's a great investment.
    Cheers!

    1. Hi Vivianne -- I own several REITs in DivGro, so that's good news! MAIN is a business development corporation, which falls into a different category. Like REITs, though, BDCs are interest rate dependent...
