3 High-Yielding, Discounted Dividend Growth Stocks

I've been working with Portfolio Insight to develop a Dividend Quality Grade for dividend stocks.

We evaluate all dividend-paying stocks and assess the likelihood of a dividend increase in the next twelve months. We also identify stocks at risk of freezing or cutting their dividends. In backtests, our approach accurately predicted a failure to continue dividend increases in more than 98% of cases!

For this article, I used a pre-release version of Dividend Quality Grades to extract Dividend Champions and Dividend Contenders with A+ Dividend Quality Grades. These are Exceptional dividend growth stocks with solid fundamentals and dividend increase streaks of ten years or more.

Additionally, I screened for stocks trading below my fair value estimates. These stocks offer good value and are suitable for immediate investment.

My Top Dividend Growth Pick In Each GICS Sector

The article presents my top dividend growth pick in each of the GICS sectors. I provide quality indicators, key metrics, and my risk-adjusted Buy Below prices for each stock.

For this article, I focused on dividend growth stocks in Dividend Radar, a weekly automatically generated spreadsheet from Portfolio Insight listing stocks with dividend streaks of five or more years.

Each stock is discounted to my fair value estimate and offers strong income and growth prospects. Moreover, the stocks I picked have Very Safe or Safe dividends according to Simply Safe Dividends.

3 High Yielding Dividend Growth Stocks With Upside Potential

The Dividend Achievers are companies that have increased their dividends for ten or more consecutive years.

In this article, I highlight three Dividend Achievers with upside potential and forward yield above 5%.

Of the 373 Dividend Achievers I considered, only 23 have forward yields of at least 5%. I used Portfolio Insight's screening feature to find stocks with 1-year upsides of at least 10% and identified three candidates matching my criteria.

My Top 7 Dividend Growth Stock Picks for 2022

As a dividend growth investor, I look to invest in high-quality and safe dividend growth [DG] stocks trading at reasonable valuations. My watchlist is Dividend Radar, an automatically generated spreadsheet listing stocks with dividend increase streaks of five or more years. The latest edition (December 24, 2021) contains 731 DG stocks.

I usually consider five stock selection criteria before buying DG stocks for my DivGro portfolio: The criteria are Stock Quality, Stock Valuation, Growth Outlook, Income Outlook, and Dividend Safety.

The article briefly describes these criteria and two additional screens I used to pick my top 7 DG stocks for 2022.

The Best Defensive Dividend Growth Stocks

In the December edition of my 7 Dividend Growth Stocks on TheStreet.coms, I used a defensiveness scoring system developed by David Van Knapp [DVK] as my primary screen. The system awards points to stocks based on satisfying common notions of safety rather than for being members of a particular sector.

In that article, I identified the best defensive stocks that traded below my risk-adjusted Buy Below prices.

Today, I want to identify the best defensive dividend growth stocks regardless of their current valuations. While I wouldn’t recommend buying stocks until they trade at more favorable valuations, it is good to have a shortlist of high-quality defensive stocks ready to go!

7 Discounted Utilities With Generous Dividends

As a dividend growth investor, I look for high-quality dividend growth stocks trading at reasonable valuations. Dividend safety is an important consideration, and I prefer to invest in stocks that have a good chance of delivering solid total returns (dividends plus price appreciation).

Utilities operate in a regulated environment and often as legal monopolies, so they have predictable and stable earnings. This allows some Utilities to pay generous dividends and to increase their dividend payouts over time.

The Chowder Number and 5-year Yield on Cost are measures of a stock’s future total return and dividend income prospects.
